Consultation Open: Cheshire East Advocacy and Participation Framework and Supporting Documents
Cheshire East Children's Services is inviting feedback on its proposed Advocacy and Participation Framework and supporting documents. The consultation is open until 4 December 2026.
Why are we consulting?
The proposed framework sets out how Cheshire East will support children, young people, parents and carers to understand what is happening, express their views, participate meaningfully in decision-making and access advocacy when needed.
The framework aims to move beyond simply asking whether someone is eligible for an advocate and instead focuses on understanding what support they need to participate meaningfully in decisions that affect their lives.
What is proposed?
The proposals promote a rights-based, relational and inclusive approach that starts with the individual and the barriers they may face, rather than focusing solely on service eligibility criteria.
We want to hear from you
We welcome feedback from:
- Children and young people
- Parents and carers
- Practitioners and managers
- Education, health, police and voluntary sector partners
- Advocacy providers and participation organisations
- Anyone with an interest in children's participation, rights and advocacy
We are particularly interested in your views on:
- Whether the framework is clear and easy to understand
- How well the framework reflects children's rights and lived experience
- Whether there are any gaps in the proposed arrangements
- How we can improve access to advocacy and participation support
What happens next?
Feedback received during the consultation period will be reviewed and used to inform the final version of the framework and supporting documents before implementation.
The consultation closes at 5.00pm on Friday 4 December 2026.
