Information for parents and carers

Safeguarding children and young people means helping to keep them safe and happy, protected from physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect. As a parent, carer, relative, neighbour, member of the public or a professional who has contact with children, you may be concerned about the welfare and safety of your own child or a child you know.

These concerns could be about their appearance, behaviour, development or how they are being cared for. If you are concerned about a child suffering abuse, neglect or harm, or at risk of being - PLEASE SPEAK TO SOMEONE.

Please call The Cheshire East Consultation Service (ChECS) on 0300 123 5012 (option 3).

ChECS will be able to talk through your concerns; it may be that your phone call will make all the difference for a child.

If you believe a child is in immediate danger phone 999 and speak to the police.

Here you will find help with issues and solutions available to keep children safe online to acting on your concerns regarding bullying you've seen or abuse you suspect.

If you and your family are already involved in safeguarding or child protection services, this section will help you understand systems like Child Protection Case Conferences and Private Fostering.
