Trio of Vulnerabilities
This course considers the impact of domestic abuse, mental ill health, and substance misuse when coexisting in a household where there are children present. We’ll engage in discussions and exercises which support building the safety and wellbeing of children living under these difficult circumstances.
This information has been created and will be presented by three specialist organisations: Visyon, CGL (Change Grow Live) and DAFSU (Domestic Abuse Family Safety Unit)
Training objectives are to:
- Consider the combined impact arising from the trio of vulnerabilities on parenting and the lived experience of the child.
- Improve identification, assessment, and management of risks to children.
- Raise confidence to engage with affected adults to bring about positive change.
- Increase knowledge of services and referral pathways.
- Promote a holistic response to the whole family’s needs.
This course is suitable for practitioners who are working with children. We welcome any level of experience as the course material and content may serve as essential new learning or a vital refresher on the topic.
Here are some comments from professionals who have previously attended and enjoyed this course:
- 'I feel like I have gained lots of information on the local services. I feel one huge thing I have taken from the training is to continue to be curious but to be mindful of judgement.'
- 'It has been really interesting to hear the various speakers and to learn about different branches of support on offer.'
- 'Felt that I have learnt so much and the presenters are such experts in their own fields, the pace is great but maybe longer as so enjoyable. Thanks everyone.'

PLEASE HELP US TO HELP YOU: an appeal for mutual support by polite request…
The training team and guest expert presenters dedicate time and effort putting together a consistent and reliable offer that is as easy as possible for everyone to access. Unfortunately, we sometimes find practitioners may book onto the longer courses and then without reason or notice, do not attend.
The multi-agency nature of the learning space is what makes the CESCP training opportunity significant and valuable. Withdrawing from a course without notice is not fair for the presenters or other attendees who would otherwise benefit from the group mix. However, we do understand that unforeseeable issues may arise which affect individuals who fully intend to participate and then later find they can’t for whatever reason.
In all circumstances, we politely request that:
- Every effort is made to fulfil the booking commitment where your learning is also prioritised by your line manager and team.
- The reason for non-attendance is given prior to the course starting (preferably days in advance if known). This will help us to gain an understanding of the types of difficulties that practitioners are experiencing when trying to access their booked learning, for us to then consider more holistically how recurring issues with non-attendance may be resolved.
